On June 9 around 4:30 p.m., the Holt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and Atkinson Police Department (APD) responded to an accident near the intersection of Highway 20 and 478th Avenue east of Stuart.
Rosa Shelton of Atkinson, pulling a 2000 travel trailer, was driving eastbound on Highway 20. The driver was attempting to turn north onto 478th Avenue.
Kathleen Davis of Atkinson, driving a white 2012 Chevy Impala, also was traveling eastbound on Highway 20.
Davis attempted to pass the travel trailer when Shelton began to make a left-hand turn onto 478th Avenue.
Davis attempted to pull back into the driving lane, but was unable to avoid striking the travel trailer on the passenger side rear corner.
According to the accident report, both the travel trailer and Chevy Impala sustained an estimated $1,000 each in damages. No injuries were reported.
The accident was investigated by both the HCSO and APD.
On June 10 around 6:07 p.m., HCSO and Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) responded to an accident near the intersection of Highway 20/275 and 498th Avenue near Inman.
Randy Ehmen of O’Neill, driving a maroon 2003 Peterbilt tractor trailer, was traveling westbound on Highway 20/275.
Russell Hilger of David City, driving a white 2001 Ford pickup, was stopped at the intersection of 498th Avenue and Highway 20/275.
Hilger proceeded northbound across the highway and was struck on the passenger side of the vehicle by the tractor trailer. His vehicle came to a rest in the northwest ditch of the intersection facing westbound.
Ehmen was able to maintain control of the tractor trailer and came to a stop on the westbound shoulder of the highway.
Hilger was transported to Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill for non-life threatening injuries. Ehmen was not injured.
The Hilger pickup was totaled and the tractor trailer sustained major damages according to the accident report.
The accident was investigated by HCSO and NSP.
