Born To Fly

FIRST PLACE — The Sandhills Elite Clogging Team received first place for its routine “Born To Fly.” 

BRANSON, MO — The Sandhills Elite Clogging Team from Studio 15 Dance Academy in Atkinson traveled to Branson, MO, to compete at the Challenge of Champions Clogging Competition on June 15 at the Riverfront Playhouse at Silver Dollar City theme park.

Members of the team include Berkleigh Dvorak, Elley Engelhaupt, Selah Keim, Jordyn Osborne, Kelcie Osborne, Madalyn Pistulka, Madeline Rentschler, Oliva Rentschler, Hadleigh Stracke, Harlow Stracke and Claire Woeppel. The team director is Alisha Keim.

As a part of the amateur team competition, in the elementary age division, The Sandhills Elite Clogging Team competed in five team categories. 

In the contemporary standing line category, the team received first  with the routine “Good Times, Good Life.” In the traditional formation line category, the team received first with the routine “Born To Fly.” In the traditional line category, the team received second with the routine, “Uncle Pen.” In the small team exhibition category, the team received third with the routine, “Can’t Stop the Feeling.” In the team a capella category, the team received first.

Each member of the team also competed in the traditional freestyle solo competition in which they perform their own 32-beat solo to traditional bluegrass music. In the 7- 9 year old age division, Selah Keim received first and Jordyn Osborne received third. In the 10-11 year old age division, Olivia Rentschler received third. In the 12-14 year old age division, Hadleigh Stracke received second.

Some members of the team also competed in other solo or duet categories. In the contemporary solo freestyle competition Madalyn Pistulka received third in the 12-14 year old age division. In the traditional duet category, Berkleigh Dvorak and Selah Keim received second with the routine “This Little Light of Mine.”
