Wyona "Dodie" Mae Orsborn, 86, of O'Neill died Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Visitation was held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

A celebration of life service was held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the mortuary in O'Neill. Fr. Bernard Starman officiated.

A private burial will be held at a later date in the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Wyona was born on Jan. 26, 1935 to Earl and Jennie (Hauser) Strong in O’Neill. She attended country school northeast of O’Neill through eighth grade. 

Dodie met Herman Orsborn and three months later, on June 25, 1949, they married at Carney Park in O’Neill. To this union six children were born Beverly, Robert, Sally, Dean, Mirna and Suzanne. 

The couple made their home in O’Neill, then moved to the country in 1962. In 1968, They purchased their first (and current) home, back in O’Neill. 

Dodie worked at M&M Bakery, Seger’s Truckstop and Shamrock Lanes before retiring in 1990. 

Dodie loved to watch her grandchildren and hold her great-grandbabies. She loved her many gardens throughout her yard and her African Violets that were her prized flowers. She loved to do puzzles, word searches and an open book was always on the table.  

Dodie bowled for many years with Norm’s Trenchers and later other teams. She was an avid watcher of Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right and other game shows.  

Dodie loved company and always had a pot of coffee on. She loved baking bread, oatmeal raisin cookies and a cake. She was famous for her pickles, apple jellies and pies. 

She cherished time with her family and was always up for games of Crazy Eight, Rummy and Pitch.  

Dodie is survived by her six children Beverly (James) Reicks of O’Neill, Robert (Cindy) Orsborn of Stromsburg, Sally (Jeff) Row of Shickley, Dean (Nancy) Orsborn of Walton, Mirna (Ron) Knight of Tilden and Suzanne (Merle) Hagemann of O’Neill; 22 grandchildren Corri (Greg) Heiss, Erinn Reicks (Phil Dugan), April (Matt) Bauer, Brett (Nora) Orsborn, Chase (Stacy) Orsborn, Shandy (Sue) Hand, Jeremy (Cassandra) Row, Ben (Mariah) Row, Adam (Rachel) Orsborn, Paul (Charlotte) Orsborn, Jeff (Stacy) Stauffer, Joel Stauffer, Kendra Stauffer, Jessica (Jason) Raastad, Jordan (Michael) Carnes, Katelyn (Grant) Mazuch, Lacie (Evan) Miller, Tori Novak (Austin Foster), Grady Novak, Kadra Sommersted-Simmons, Erica (Frisco) Pfiester, Jessica Hageman and Igor (Tricia) Volk; 29 great-grandchildren; three sisters Pauline (Virgil) Parks of O’Neill, Joyce (Gordon) Kotrous of Pierce and Lonnie (George) Fuller of O’Neill; two brothers Earl Strong of O’Neill and Jim Strong of Fenton, MO; one sister-in-law Marg Strong of Giltner; one brother-in-law George Mumm of O’Neill; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Herman Orsborn in 2015; an infant son Herman Jr.; one great-grandson Bennet Carnes; one brother William Strong; one sister Jennie McGaffin; two brothers-in-law Bill Orsborn and Tim McGaffin; and two sisters-in-law Bertha Mumm and Norma Strong.
